Commanding Your Dog to Sit

If you call your dog's name in your command voice and follow his name with the word sit - (Fido, sit!) - you will have transformed those words into a command that indicates to your dog that he is to:

  1. Immediately go to where you are.
  2. Sit down facing you at a distance of a few feet away.
  3. Remain in that posture while he waits for you to give him further instructions.
