How can you use the formula to keep your dog from urinating on the carpet?


The Formula

  1. Give your dog something else to do.
    (something rewarding that is incompatible with the problem behavior)
  2. Remove all the pay-offs.
    (for the problem behavior)
  3. Make sure that it becomes an unpleasant experience.
    (every time your dog engages in the problem behavior)

Answer:

  1. Pet, praise, and otherwise reward your dog when he urinates ourside where he should.
  2. Interrupt his efforts to pee inside, and shoo him outdoors before he gets a chance to releave himself.
  3. Do something to make your dog feel upset every time that he begins to urinate where he should not.
