Free Form Movement, also called Free Form Walking

The term free form refers to the act of allowing your dog to walk where he wants, as long as he remains within a short radius around the point where you are standing, or walking, as the case may be.

There are two variations on free form movement:

  1. free form off the lead
  2. free form on the lead.

Walking with a dog when he is free form on the lead should be differentiated from walking with an on-lead dog that has been commanded to remain in the heel position.
